  1. Pfffft... It was nothing. I just ripped off all the photos, renderings and info you got here!

But I'm glad you enjoy it! The map is a total work in progress. Next step is to dig up info on older projects that have been quiet for a while. Also coming is a status oriented map, that will allow you to see only completed projects, or only projects under construction, proposed, etc.

Be sure to bookmark it, and check back whenever you see some heavy machinery on the block and wonder what they're doing there.

  2. Hey, don't forget the loft project at 21st and R (or S?). Not only is it housing, but waaaay up high on the building, it advertises that a neighborhood cafe called "Tulis" will be going in there

  3. that's good news about Tulis, but I was kinda hoping Taka's Sushi would be relocating there.

  4. I am so disappointed Taka's is closed. That was my go to sushi spot. I recently checked out Kru though, very suitable replacement

    Hopefully Taka's can reopen soon.

  5. Oh, I wouldn't worry about Taka's. Based on the following that place had, and the amount of retail space going into all of these lofts, there should be no problem. The Whiskey Hill Lofts are under constructions, and Petrovich has already started cleaning out that property on 19th (directly across from Safeway).

  6. The only thing that has me a little worried is that one of the owners has moved to Bay Area to do something new. The others better keep it going.

New Canton lost their head chef to the Bay Area as well.

  7. right on... you got the map to show up on your homepage!

just a reminder, any time you happen to look at it - if you see something wrong, or missing shoot me a email.

as for the condos and bistro on 21st & S, I can't find any specifics for the project. as in total units, size of retail, renderings or links. so if anyone knows, drop me a line...

  8. Hi , I saw you were on Taka's Sushi myspace group :)
Please read if you are still a fan:

Hi everyone, just to give you an update on Taka's Sushi (for those who are fans). They are planning a grand re-opening in September. I am sorry Zen Toro patrons, but Taka's has bought the restaurant and taken over the lease. Just to let you know, Mr. Nishiyama (the owner of Zen Toro) still has a place out in Davis. All of your favorite Taka chefs will be back (Lou, Jason, Mike, and Nao San). It will be the same menu with new additions. I will keep you updated on the formal re-opening date and we’d love it if you could come by!

  9. Thanks for the update on Taka's. I had heard that was probably where they were heading, but hadn't heard if it as final or not...I also saw your post on another website.

I'll miss being able to walk right over to Hangar 17 right after though. Oh well, the new place is only 2 extra blocks from my house.

  10. Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I have another update which I am spreading around, hoping to get our old customers (and new ones) in the know:

Taka's Sushi has undergone some changes so we are not using the Taka name anymore and we are relocating to 15th and I Street (right across from the Memorial Auditorium). We actually bought Zen Toro. However, our new restaurant, Zen Sushi, is owned and operated by Taka's Japanese Cuisine and Sushi management (Taka's was formerly located on 18th and S as you know). The menu is mostly the same and all of the chefs are back for this new endeavor. Grand Opening is on the 18th of September. I’ve had a few tastes of some of their new dishes are they are yummy but you can still find all of your favorites. You'll see all of the old chefs and some of the old servers. We really hope you can help spread the word that Taka's (now Zen Sushi) is back!
