Station 65

This projects outside the grid but it's a mixed-use, transit oriented project that will bring some smart growth principles at 28.4 units per acre.

This proposed mixed-use, transit oriented project consists of 49,805 sf of commercial retail, 82,695sf for a hotel with 148 rooms, 13,875sf of restaurants, 30,000sf for a fitness center, 52,290sf of office and medical office, 210,635sf for a parking structure, and 100 residential units.

The site is located on the southeast corner of 65th Street and Folsom Boulevard. It is adjacent to the 65th Street Light Rail Station and close to the major freeway ramp of Interstate 50 as well as within walking distance to the California State University, Sacramento campus. With F65 just across the street with a similar layout of retail and residential, I'm sure this will fit into the neighborhood just fine.

  1. I like the idea of the project, but does it offer an explanation of where the 65th Street bus transfer station will be? Where will the buses go? There are at least seven bus lines that terminate at the station.

  3. John: According to the Staff Report given to the Design Commission, the Regional Transit transfer station would be relocated to 67th Street and Q Street prior to construction of the project. The developer is working with RT to design the project in anticipation of the relocation and the project is currently being reviewed by RT which is going through a separate process with the City’s Department of Transportation because the bus transfer station will be located within City’s public rightof-way.

bewareofthescam I did not see any sign in the rendering that had Marriott on it, only the Station 65 sign was legible to me.

  5. Its right below the Station 65 sign. And I was mistaken its Howard Johnson Inn, not Courtyard Marriott. If you google image Howard Johnson, you will see that it is the same color scheme and writing (I have good eyesight, what can I say) :-)

  6. The developer is Lucas Enterprises.

bewareofthescam: below the Station 65 sign it says "office". If you looks at the west elevation "B" it appears to say Springhill Suites... at least that's what I see.

  7. 67th street must be newly created with this project. Bus service will still remain fairly close to the light rail station. Excellent.

This is one of the better projects I've heard of around SMUD, where I work. This type of development is exactly what we need to be building outside the core.

As it is, virtually all my daily needs can be met during the day within a half mile or so of SMUD, all accessible on foot, and this sort of development only enhances that capability.

  8. For the person who was interested in which hotel it was.. it's actually a Springhill Suites by Marriott.

By any means.. any updates on this project?
