Tonight the Sacramento Preservation Commission will hold a
public hearing to recommend the Capitol Towers superblock within N Street, P
Street, 5th and 7th Streets be registered as a historic
district. The applicant, Sacramento Modern (SacMod,) requested the nomination
of the Capitol Towers complex for listing in the Sacramento Register of
Historic & Cultural Resources (Sacramento Register.) The Preservation
Director found significant features and characteristics of the Capitol Towers
superblock meet several criteria for eligibility and recommends consideration

The proposed Sacramento Commons project includes two
high-rise (24 story) apartment buildings with 550 total units (275 apartments
per building), 12 live/work units, 21,000 square feet of ground floor retail /
support services, 604 parking spaces, and an open space plaza. Two 206 mid-rise
(7 story) apartment units, 8,000 square feet of ground floor retail / support
services, 916 parking spaces, and 30 live/work units. One Hotel/Condo/Retail 300 room hotel, 110 condominium units, 37,000 square
feet of retail / support services, and 639 parking spaces in a 24-story mixed
use building, and 4 live/work units.
Last night the Preservation Commission Board recommended denying the Sacramento Commons proposal based on the demolition of culture resource that is currently there. The board is willing to listen to revised alternatives. This recommendation will now be forwarded onto the Planning and Design Commission who will make the final call on the proposed Sacramento Commons project.
ReplyDeleteCan you explain in lay-mans terms what this all means? Is the project likely dead? What must be done to change the plan to accommodate the history?
ReplyDeleteAfter the Planning and Design Commission give there yes or no vote it will then go on to the City Council who will then vote to approve or not approve the proposal. The Preservation Commission did not give any details as to what they would like to see changed. It's a toss up as to what will be discussed next... I imagine the developer is working hard behind closed doors to get this to pass the council vote.

ReplyDeleteChris Savage still owes $3,000 on the gym equipment. His Debt payments are 5 months past due.
In 2013 he agreed to purchase gym equipment consisting of Squat rack, 5 barbells, rubber plates, metal plates, complete dumbbell set, kettlebells, parallel bars, Schwinn Airdyne bike, ab mats, 3 medicine balls, 3 slammer balls, rubber pull up assist bands and jump ropes. Literally all the equipment in the studio from 2013 till recently.
He has defaulted on paying for the equipment. The sale price was $4,000 yet only $1,000 has been payed.
