  1. It sure doesn’t have what Robert Stern might call “Pride of Place”.

  2. I don't think it was built to make a statement. I'm thankful there won't be a surface parking lot there anymore... and soon more people living in the area.

    1. I’m glad, too, that more people will be living downtown - that’s what it needs to succeed - but this building looks like it would be more at home in midtown - not on what is arguably Sacramento’s most important street.
Capitol Mall should be lined with major buildings.

  3. What do you expect, Sacramento doesn't have the economic power to build anything else. Unless the State builds another bland office tower, I don't see private sector building anything amazing or unique. For context, this plot of land has been a parking lot since 1965 when the State cleared dozens of blocks to someday rebuild a modern city. That was 56 years ago and only now is there a developer who has the money to build on this land. All the others proposals were nothing more than a vision with no money or demand to actually get them built.

    1. Gotta start somewhere right? As more of these are built, more people/businesses will move in, which in turn will create a more stable economic base to support bigger tower projects.
