Resources Building $461 Million Renovation

This fifty eight year old State owned office building is currently undergoing a $461 million dollar renovation. Built in 1964, the Post War International Style building was the tallest structure on the Sacramento skyline when completed the fourth largest office building west of Chicago. The 17-story 657,000-square-foot building cost $15 million to construct at the time.

Resources Building 1416 9th Street, Sacramento 95814

Due to its age, the Resources Building at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 is considered historic and subject to review by the State Historic Preservation Office. It will cost $688 per square foot to renovate the building and is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2025. This project includes changes required to meet current occupant life safety codes, seismic deficiencies, and occupant health requirements. Back in 2015 the estimated cost for renovation was $155 million, ten times the structure’s original cost.

Broadway Bridge Project

Sacramento Broadway Bridge seen from Pioneer Bridge

Both the City of Sacramento and West Sacramento have approved the preliminary design for the Broadway Bridge Project. The new  Sacramento River crossing immediately south of Pioneer Bridge could possibly be completed between 2030 and 2035. The estimated bridge construction cost is currently $278 million, but that will most likely rise as these things do until a contractor is chosen and date is set to begin.

Arco Arena Demolition

After I heard that the demolition had begun, I had to stop by one last time to see what was once Sacramento's premier entrainment venue. So many great memories, and all the best ones were with my Papa. 

Sacramento County Courthouse Construction

The Sacramento County Courthouse is more than half way finished installing the curtain walls with two different window designs. The north facing side on G Street (front entrance) has a more traditional glass design, were as the south facing side is a more random window design. Just like the Federal Courthouse across the street, the backside of the building is a dead zone on the street level, making sure this whole block of H Street is lifeless.

Tower Cranes at Aggie Square Project

Aggie Square Project along Second Ave. and Stockton Blvd.

After ground breaking in February, tower cranes are now in the air over he UC Davis Sacramento campus. This is the first phase of the development with two buildings, one for STEM research and the other for teaching.
