The Metropolitan

On December 19th the Design Commission will possibly approve the Metropolitan for construction giving John Saca another chance to prove he is a big time developer. The proposal will be either 320 residential condominium units or 190 residential condominium units and 190 hotel rooms.

How about some color? Why do all the new high rises need to be just gray? I've noticed this in SF and San Diego that they are just creating a blah skyline with all the buildings the same color. Back in the day we had some brick and some stone that would be various colors. Otherwise looks great - Hope to see the tower rising soon!

The Metropolitan will never happen...

Sweet Jesus, I hope you're wrong. That corner needs some help. And I haven't given up on Saca completely.

What's going on? Does someone know something about this project being in peril?

No it's not in peril. it's progressing just as fast (or slow) as it should - as evidence by Zwahlen's post. I presume next it the Planning Commission and eventually full City Council approval?

And though the housing market isn't looking so good, I'm wondering if construction costs are stabilizing and projects like this won't run into trouble like the Towers did. With a project like the Metro, it will be under construction for a couple years. Who knows what things will be like by then?
