Target out of Downtown Plaza Renovation?

Well, take it for what it's worth, but apparently Target has pulled out of the DTP renovation.

One of the food court vendors when asked about moving to the other side of the mall in a couple years, said who knows since Target has pulled out.

If this is true, I can't imagine Westfield pouring money into DTP without a signed major tenant

I always did find it curious that they would be willing to go into DTP when they are completely redoing the one on Broadway and have one in Natomas as well.

Target is hardly a sexy name and regional draw, but at least it would have generated some foot traffic.

yeah, there's a place for Target in the grid, but the grocer is integral

love to see a big red Raley's sign shining on L Street

I'd love to see a Nugget. I've heard they are looking at the Railyards though.

That's a great idea, fiction. Maybe a Trader Joe's too.

All that requires more folks living in the area. How are we on those stats, LIUS?

I'm interested in hearing some confirmation about this Target pull-out, prferably from someone higher in the food chain than someone working the food court.

It was actually the owner of one of the food court restaurants, not just a worker there.

While not at the negotiating table with Westfield and Target, I'm sure he has a vested interest in knowing exactly what is going on.

Far from a solid confirmation, but a interesting rumor never the less.

Coincidentally , i was in the DTP talking about this with one of the ladies who worked upstairs .

Personally im glad to hear it . With the "new" target on Riverside goin in (one day) why the need for another target downtown @ all ? I agree with fiction , Raleys needs to step it up and build in its own backyard .

Anyone notice how many more retailers have disappeared from the DTP ? Man it looks like vacant and occupied are starting to even out !
