Hotel Planned for 9th & L Streets

Proposed Canopy hotel rendering submitted to City Planners

A formal design review has been submitted to city planners for a proposed 14-story hotel at the corner of 9th & L Streets. As reported by the Sacramento Business Journal, the project would cost about $150 million, 275 hotel rooms with 50 luxury apartments on the top floors; have a roof top bar and ground floor retail. The Canopy by Hilton at 831 L Street will have a total of 280,000 SF.
Original rendering released two weeks ago of proposed Canopy Hotel

Seems like the proposal to the city versus the rendering from a few weeks ago it shorter. Is the new building still projected 14 stories?

Mmmm, yes. You can count them.

This is exactly the kind of project that the JKL corridor needs to be a more self-sustaining area, bringing both a nice volume of hotel tenants plus some full time residents to what is now a very dead block. If this development plus Nikki Mohanna's combo project gets off the ground before the next (forthcoming?) economic cycle, it'll really help all those new businesses on K weather the next storm.

Would be lovely if the Kings could quit squatting on their hole in the ground on 8th & K... that'd really complete a revitalized stretch of the corridor!
