Nice shot of Capitol Mall. I would really like the city to spruce it up a bit now that they finally have control of it from the State and make it something special.
Some new street lights, some new street signs that are different from all the other ones in the city, create some kind of real public space on the grass strip...just a few ideas.
I heard awhile back that a group of architects wanted / tried to get something going on the Mall . I believe it was the guys from Lonakis Beaumont Design Group , but dont quote me . . .
The prob with the Mall is that is a state hwy (275)so it doesnt fall under city jurisdiction , it is under state control . . .
That would explain any percieved stall in its rehabilitation
I want them to put a streetcar line down the middle through that green strip, like there was until 1940...then ride it across the Tower Bridge to West Sac.
Street cars coming soon? There are much better areas to serve the people with street cars than down Capitol Mall. Except for crossing over the Tower Bridge, the wires above Capitol mall would turn that postcard image into a wiry mess. Any other stretch of street in the city the wires would look fine, but down CM would look awful... especially as you cross the bridge from W. Sac.

From my understanding, that changed about a year ago. The city now has jurisdiction over CM
