Uptown/Downtown Grit...

see, I dig that sort of thing. a city needs a bit of decay, a bit of buildings whose utilization isn't maximized. industrial uses, check cashing, marginal uses, low-profit uses like used bookstores and dinky playhouses and cheap restaurants and other interstitial places that aren't shiny and clean and sterilized...a city should have room for them all.
and railroad tracks. definitely railroad tracks.

good photos, by the way.

I agree. I like grit. While I like seeing redevelopment in areas that need it, it's causes areas to become too sterile if not careful.

Thanks for posting the North Sac grit. I am an artist that just moved uptown, and really like the mix. Its so evident here, the Supper Club next to lil'Joes.... its all good.

Wow. You've really shown some of the seedier part of Sac. You have just scratched the surface. Maybe you could photograph some of the homeless people who migrate daily on 12th street. Thenks for showing its not all glitz and glitter downtown.
